Codes of Practice are benchmarks set by the Regulator. Codes of Practice are generally not mandatory but their use is encouraged as the procedures, limitations, and measures set out in a code of practice are considered to be best practice. In special cases, a Code of Practice may be specified within the legislation. When this occurs, this specific code of practice becomes the mandatory minimum requirement.

Codes of Practice are approved by the Regulators. It is best to view the current Codes of Practice at the relevant Regulator's web site.
